Abbotsford, BC – CIVL is the #1 Canadian Campus Radio station outside of Toronto for the 2023 year, earning sole runner-up in the Small Market category behind Newfoundland community station Bay of Islands Radio. York University’s VIBE 105.5 in Toronto took over CIVL’s crown as the two-time reigning campus radio station of the year in Canada, winning the Community or Campus station Major Market category outright.
With two community stations finishing as runners-up in the major market category, CIVL was the only other campus station to receive recognition this year, marking a three-peat for “Canada’s Original #1 Campus Radio Station”, receiving the highest recognition for a campus radio station in its categories each year since winning Broadcast Dialogue’s inaugural Campus Station of the Year award in 2021.
The award criteria was as follows: “Recognizing overall excellence in broadcasting, awarded to a station operating as a not-for-profit , demonstrating its ability to impact and engage with its campus and/or community audience, including but not limited to community service and involvement, creativity, innovation.”
