ABOUT BEMORR SOCIETY

After years of struggling with depression, anxiety and PTSD following his father’s suicide in 2013, Brook Morrison, at the age of 26, also passed away from suicide in September of 2020. Following his passing, the Morrison family envisioned a way to move through the grief and loss to help others who are also struggling with mental health. After many discussions around the Morrison kitchen table, the BeMorr Society Nonprofit came to life. As we navigated through the construction of the Society it became abundantly clear to us that the stigma around reaching out for help for those struggling with mental health, as well as the financial burden of seeking that help, was a barrier for many across Canada. As such, we decided to take an active stance and assist those who need immediate and ongoing assistance.

We exist to ensure those affected by mental health issues including PTSD and Suicidal thoughts/actions are empowered and supported to seek the help they need and feel safe to speak openly with cost of care not being a barrier. For those who are not able to afford the services, we will provide financial assistance. Financial assistance will come from donations and grants, and through fundraising events, such as the Hawaiian Shirt Gala.

*Please note that registration for this event is nonrefundable.

INTRODUCING OUR GALA EMCEE: KERI ADAMS

Keri Adams is an award-winning journalist/anchor at CTV News Vancouver, and host of CTV Morning Live.

She wakes up early every morning, has a chat on TV about what’s happening in our world, and shares a lot of laughs with co-workers. Not a bad gig if you can handle the hours!

Keri loves covering stories that can make a difference in the lives of people in the community, and has worked with many charity organizations to create support for at-risk youth and adults, and promote awareness of women’s health and mental health issues.

Keri began her career on morning television as a news writer in her home town of Edmonton in 1994, before working as a photojournalist in Red Deer, AB. That led to a high profile role in Edmonton as weekend anchor, covering breaking news, and elections for all levels of government.

In 2001, Keri headed west to Vancouver where she worked as a reporter and Weekend Morning News Anchor with Global Television (CHAN-TV) before being snapped up by CTV Vancouver. She’s anchored newscasts in all timeslots and reported on everything from crime, politics, health, with a love of covering breaking stories live on the scene.

In 2005, Keri received the Jack Webster Award for ‘Best News Reporting’ for her work on the fatal North Vancouver Mudslide, and was nominated in 2004 for ‘Best Feature Reporting’.

She’s also expecting her two daughters to nominate her for Mother of the Year sometime in the next 10 years.

OUR ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP: EDDY WHISKEY

In 2009, JH decided to enter the Star Search Competition put on by a Calgary radio station 98.5 the Vibe. Fortunately for them they took home first prize and cashed in on a cool $100,000.00. Over their time, JH extensively toured and was privileged enough to share the stage with many Musical Hall of Famers such as; Collective Soul, the Watchmen, Sam Roberts, the Trews, Kim Mitchell, Jeff Healey, Skid Row and Pearl Jam to name a few. In 2011, as all things come to an end, the band decided to pursue other interests. In 2020, after some much needed time off from the road, Eddy decided to hit the studio once again to record and release an acoustic album titled “Through Hills & Valley ”. This album can be found on all major media platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
