Toad People Film Screening

November 30, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The UFV Wildlife Protection Club, in collaboration with SLUECSA, UFV SLOW & Nature Canada, is hosting a community event on the UFV Abbotsford campus on November 30th (Wednesday), from 5-7 pm.

Come in and learn what communities across BC are doing to protect biodiversity, and a chance to have your voice hear by the Government this December by joining thousands of Canadians in writing a letter, encouraging the government to set strong targets to preserve the biodiversity in Canada. These messages will be collected by Nature Canada as part of their cross-country bus tour and delivered to the Prime Minister at the UN Convention of Biodiversity (Nature COP) in Montreal on December 6th.

We are having a free showing of the documentary film ‘Toad People’ which tells the story of families and communities across BC who are taking action to save the wildlife in their backyard, including conservation efforts right here in the Fraser Valley. Following the 50 minute film, we will have a buffet of snacks/refreshments and letter writing stations set-up where attendees can write messages to the Prime Minister expressing why Canada should protect more natural areas.  We’re trying to get as many nature-loving people as possible to attend and send a collective message to the government that Canadians want strong targets for biodiversity protection, while enjoying free food and a film! Kids are welcome!
