Students Get Work Experience at CIVL!

12 February 2026 / by CIVL Radio

Over the Winter semester of 2026, CIVL was proud to host Workplace Training in Attitudes Skills and Knowledge (TASK) program student Taysen Gabrielson (pictured above with his supervisor, Cam Hauck, and interviewee Kenneth Brake of Ken Ryu Jujutsu) as a placement student.

CIVL regularly hosts practicum, co-op and work experience opportunities for students, volunteers and community members, where you can get a taste of what it’s like to be a part of operating a fully functioning FM radio station and media hub, under the supervision and cooperation of experienced CIVL volunteers and staff.

Thanks so much to Taysen for spending his month with us – here’s what he had to say about his experience:

“I really enjoyed my time at CIVL. I’m really glad I was able to work with the board, and be on the radio. I’m glad that I was given the opportunity to be on the radio, to make an impact while at CIVL Radio.

My goal is to come back and have my own show, and have a lasting impact with everyone at CIVL.

Also, I’m really happy that I co-hosted a show. It was a great learning experience. I’m forever grateful to CIVL for the opportunity.

Taysen”

Cam, who supervised Taysen with CIVL staff throughout his placement, and mentored him on the Cam the Man Show every week, says “Working with Taysen was a pleasure. He was very engaged, easy to work with, and took direction very well!”

CIVL thanks Taysen for learning with us and helping share the music, events, and ideas that make the Fraser Valley unique!
