SUMMARY:Precarious: A Transformative Musical Tale
DESCRIPTION:Precarious\, a community collage play produced by Mission Overdose Community Action Team\, unveils stories of the toxic unregulated drug supply crisis. \nWith warmth\, authenticity\, and a touch of humour\, Precarious acknowledges the risky times in which we all live and engages the audience with a vision for transformation. \nThrough scenes and songs\, the play interweaves some of the history of prohibition\, explores the unfolding human tragedy of the Fentanyl crisis\, while celebrating the heroism of peers and families on the front lines and on some songs the audience is invited to sing along. \nThe Precarious Players\, building this community play together\, made space for healing in the process of addressing the toxic drug supply crisis through art. The stories will resonate with people and provide a focus and facts that rarely seem to make it into the mainstream. \nPrecarious runs Dec.1 and 2\, 2023 at the Clarke Theatre 33700 Prentis Ave. in Mission. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors/students and available from the MOCAT website www.stopodmission.ca \, FB https://www.facebook.com/events/2154741711530132 or at Eventbrite https://tinyurl.com/yjjz5auw.\nTickets are also available at The Penny\, 33128 1st Avenue\, Mission\, cash sales only.

SUMMARY:Where Have All the Buffalo Gone?
DESCRIPTION:Where Have All The Buffalo Gone? is a Métis love-story that transcends time to safeguard history! \nFollow two star people and a Buffalo as they fall to earth and continue to reconnect throughout history. This play covers seven different periods of Métis history and bears witness to the emergence of the Métis nations across the plains\, the robust colonization that arises from the fur trade\, and the disappearance of the buffalo and the political uprising of the Métis Association of Alberta. The story begins during creation amongst the stars and ends in the present day. \nWhere Have All The Buffalo Gone? specifically shares scenarios from the Callihoo family’s stories\, incorporating fiddle music\, jigging and a life-like buffalo puppet. Inspired by historical events of the Métis people of Canada\, this original play for young audiences explores the loves\, the losses and the fight of Treaty 6’s Métis people – and their love and kinship to the buffalo.
